Interested in making your community better for walking and cycling to school?
Ways to get involved now!
1. Respect the School Zone When driving to or around schools, go no faster than the speed limit and look out for children crossing the street or on their bike. Support efforts to reduce speed limits on key routes to school.
2. Walk, Bike, or Carpool to School More Often Do your part to reduce congestion and air pollution, increase safety, and encourage healthy travel with your family. 3. Spread the Word! Tell your school administrators, PTA chairpersons, City staff, and neighbors/friends that you support Safe Routes to School, including specific recommendations in this plan. Share the materials and website link with others. 4. Be a Safe Routes “Champion.” Volunteer for special events like International Walk to School Day in October and Bike to School Day in May. Use the customized materials and resource links to help establish ongoing programs, such as a walking school bus or a carpool sign-up in your neighborhood. |
